About Chris Thomsen

Chris Thomsen is a near-lifelong resident of Puget Sound, landing in the Northwest after immigrating from Germany at two years old. Having lived on Bainbridge Island, Seattle's Central area, Wallingford, Queen Anne, North Seattle, Shoreline, West Seattle, and Burien (phew!), she brings a wealth of knowledge about the region and each neighborhood's unique vibe. Chris brings skills from a diverse and interesting work life, including publishing, marketing, sales, entrepreneurship, and finance. She also holds a Master's in Counseling Psychology.

In her publishing years, she honed her writing and marketing skills by crafting both editorial material and advertising for diverse audiences, including the yachting and professional sporting communities. She sees this experience as providing a strong foundation for communicating specific messages to reach her intended audience. Whether marketing a property or working with clients, Chris expertly distills complex concepts into easy-to-understand, effective messaging. Part of what she loves best about selling real estate is educating buyers and sellers about the market and the buying or selling, process in a way that alleviates the anxiety that is often present.

Before switching to real estate, Chris was a mortgage lender for ten years. The fast-paced, fluid environment was both thrilling and challenging. Going into real estate was the natural next step in her career, allowing her to indulge her love of architecture and design and interact more meaningfully with clients, sometimes over weeks or even months. She has developed so many amazing relationships through real estate and often speaks about how her clients have enriched her life.

Chris joined her wife, Kim Davis, as a team member when she realized she was discussing real estate during much of their free time - both of them loved it too much to keep it out of their downtime. Kim was also rapidly building her business, and Chris felt she could really bring something to the table that would continue taking it to the next level. Their differing strengths mesh well, allowing them to fully address all aspects of their clients' needs. Together, they have built a successful, referral-based business that relies almost entirely on the avid support of their former clients and community members.

Chris has bought and sold several small businesses, including coffee cafés in Ballard and Capitol Hill. Real estate is the only career that has challenged her as much as owning these shops. The hustle and attention to customer needs are absolutely on par, but more importantly, both businesses require total authenticity to succeed. She understands that she is her business and vice versa. Her clients can count on her proficiency, integrity, and fierce advocacy.

One of her favorite aspects of the work is writing marketing copy for her listings. Chris has received national attention for some of her uniquely creative listing descriptions and loves it when buyers and even fellow brokers compliment her efforts. Just google "West Seattle Storybook Tudor" for an example of Chris' work. She doesn't think real estate should be boring and loves bringing lightness and whimsy to what is too often unimaginative and uninteresting.

Outside of real estate, Chris channels that same energy into her community. She has served on the Board of Discover Burien and spent hundreds of hours organizing and volunteering for community events. One of her greatest joys was volunteering in the Big Sisters program as a mentor and organizer. Whether promoting local businesses whenever the opportunity arises or simply shopping locally, Chris believes in uplifting her community and finding ways to elevate women-owned and LGBT+ entities.

Chris believes that, in every interaction, there is an opportunity for growth and understanding. She's found that success with clients is most likely when she listens with respect and executes with passion and competency.
